For many families, Spring Break and where to spend it, is on their minds, especially after Hurricane Michael tore through some popular destinations. Even though many areas are still recovering from Michael, tourism officials in Panama City Beach say they\’re back to business as usual.
\”We are a community that is resilient and strong. We will come back from this. The most important way to help Panama City and Mexico Beach recover from this is to come be a tourist and spend money,\” said PCB Public Relation Manager Catie Feeney.
Bay county is one of the biggest tourism hot spots. But after Hurricane Michael tore through the area, many were wondering if this would change. Thankfully, because Panama City Beach was spared most of the damage, they\’re fully functioning for all the tourism events planned this year for the spring breakers including an UNwineD Food and Music Festival, plus…
\”We have Sand Jam, which we have a ton of great headliners for, Mardi Gras…tons of different things that visitors can do besides just the beach. So they can do more by coming to these events and enjoy the whole destination,\” continued Feeney.
Hotels also are offering some special rates to bring tourists back to an area which just witnessed its greatest test.
\”Come support these local businesses and restaurants,\” Feeney said.
If you\’re wondering how the sand looks on Panama City Beach, it\’s still as pristine as ever.
But just east, there\’s still a lot of damage. The hand print of Hurricane Michael will be here for months to come.
