A full slate of activities aimed at the visiting ‘snowbirds’ are set to get under way and will run right through February. In Panama City Beach, they’re typically referred to as “Appreciation Days”.
Tickets for these Appreciation events tend to be as low as $5 and can be purchased at the Panama City Beach Senior Center.
The Panama City Beach Senior Center charges $35 a year for membership, and this month is offering a wide range of activities and classes, including card games, stained glass classes, chair dances, billiards painting, darts, beading classes and a Wednesday \”Coffee Shoppe\” socializing event where members get free coffee and goodies. The center also is holding a \”snowbird dance\” January 28, with music by Jim Lawson, and a spaghetti dinner Feb. 9.
Harpoon Harry’s, a local favorite gulf front restaurant, will once again host its State Day luncheons beginning February 16.
Other Appreciation Day events are the Senior Prom on February 7 at Edgewater Beach Resort and the grand finale February 20 at Edgewater Beach Resort.
The calendar at the city-run Senior Center this month includes bingo, line dancing, Zumba, bridge, table tennis and other activities. The center charges by the event.
There were 371 new registrations to become members of the center in the first three days of this year, adding to the 777 members last year.
